Barcelona truly does have amazing beaches. However, the locals say the beaches in Barcelona are nothing compared to the beaches in the south of Spain. I can't even imagine what those look like!
We walked along the boardwalk and had the best gelato I have ever tasted! Apparently only on the weekends small vendors set up their tables and sell handmade jewelry, scarves, etc. I bought an infinity scarf for 12 euro! It was a once in a lifetime purchase, I couldn't pass it up :)
After walking along the beach and watching the surfers all day we decided to head to the Gothic Quarter to eat Tapas (Spanish appetizers). My first time! As we sat at the white table clothes and stared at the expensive prices many of my friends decided only to order drinks. But this was my first time, I couldn't pass up an experience eating tapas. After looking at the menu, nothing appealed to my interest, however, as we walked in there was a showcase of a bunch of tapas that looked delicious.
I asked the waiter if I could just point to the ones in the case that I wanted because I didn't know what I wanted.... oh boy did I learn my lesson....
After receiving my order, having no idea what it was, I took a bite. HOLY slimy-ness....
...That was the end of that.....
One of my friends ordered calamari and I got to try it (although he wouldn't tell me what it was before I ate it, so unknowingly I ate squid).
Later, someone mentioned that the little black dots, which I thought were pepper, meant they left the eyes in the calamari
....never again will I eat that......
However, I did have some tomatoes and some kind of cheese with toast (kind of like bruschetta) and that was HEAVENLY. Alas, a light at the end of the tunnel
But overall it was a fun day with new experiences. My taste buds will never be the same!
